Teaching
at the samsara yoga teacher training
Before I traveled to China, I taught anatomy and physiology (AF) at the Samsara Yoga Teacher Training in The Netherlands. It is a four-year program where students are guided in their journey through Yoga, and more specifically through themselves. Because while Hatha Yoga, AF, philosophy and Chackra lessons are a natural part of the curriculum, students are also have personal guidance and conversations, sitting still meditation, and Ayurveda. They therefore make a fascinating and valuable journey inward with many transformative experiences.
I thoroughly enjoyed teaching and interacting with the students and colleagues. Connecting anatomical and physiological knowledge with examples from my daily massage practice was a challenge and a treat, especially when the case studies connected with the students. Moreover, they were also mirrors for me time and again, through which I could get to know myself better. At this point it became clear to me that teaching does not only consist of giving lessons, but also of taking lessons, and that balance only occurs when the division between the two is equal to that of breathing in and breathing out.
Jolly greetings,
